Lang was born January 30, 1954 in a family very Catholic in Bridgeport in Connecticut . Although attending a Catholic school, Jeffrey was an atheist. But in the early 1980s he converted to Islam admitting that he found more spiritual satisfaction by being a Muslim. He had his MS and PhD at Purdue University, and is a professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Kansas. Excellent mathematician, Jeffrey Lang also wrote on Islam many articles and three books that are best-sellers in the United States. Aminah Assilmi (born Janice Huff, 1945 – 5 March 2010) was a broadcast journalist, national Muslim community activist and director of the International Union of Muslim Women. Formerly a Southern Baptist preacher, she converted to Islam in 1977 in college while trying to convert some Muslims to Christianity. As the director of the International Union of Muslim Women, she visited campuses discussing Islam.
